Roles and permissions
Who can do what, built from roles you can customize.
Every user holds one or more roles, and each role is a bundle of permissions. A user's permissions are the sum of all their roles. Manage them in Settings, then Roles; this requires the Manage users and roles permission.
The built-in roles
New churches start with six roles, ready to assign:
- Admin. Full access to all features. This role is locked: it always has every permission and cannot be deleted.
- Schedule Planner. Plans services and manages volunteers (events, attendance, and contacts).
- Attendance. Check-in and attendance tracking, for greeters and door teams.
- Member. Views schedules and events. The right default for most volunteers.
- Music Admin. Manages the song library and charts.
- Music User. Views the song library and charts.
Custom roles
Click Add Role to build your own, or open a role to adjust it. Permissions are grouped (Events, Attendance, Contacts, Settings, Reports, Music, Alerts, Messages, Billing) with an All toggle per group. From the role editor you can also add or remove the users holding the role.
A role that is assigned to users cannot be deleted until they are moved off it.
The permissions
Events: view events, plan events. Attendance: view, manage, and receive attendance alerts (the weekly missed-attendance digest). Contacts: view and manage. Settings: manage users and roles, ministries, event types, locations, and date and time. Reports: attendance, volunteer, trend, missed-attendance, and birthday reports. Music: view and manage the library. Alerts: subscribe to service position alerts. Messages: send messages. Billing: manage billing.
Permissions gate features quietly: someone without a permission simply does not see that page or button.
