Song editor and ChordPro
Add a song by pasting a chart in almost any format.
Open a song from the library, or click New Song, to reach the editor. Requires the Manage music library permission.
Song details
Title is required. Author, copyright, tempo, time signature, and a default key round out the song. For licensing, record the License type (CCLI, Public Domain, or Unknown) and the license number, so your reporting information is beside the chart when you need it.
Text charts
Pick a Chart type of ChordPro, OnSong, or Chord over Lyric and paste your chart into the Song chart box. All three are plain text:
- ChordPro puts chords inline in square brackets:
[G]Amazing [C]grace. - Chord over Lyric is the classic format with chords on their own line above the words.
- OnSong is the variant used by the OnSong app.
Use the Preview tab to see the rendered chart with chords above the lyrics, exactly as your team will see it. The preview can transpose and resize; see Keys and transposing.
PDF charts
For scanned or purchased charts, pick the PDF chart type and upload the file (up to 10 MB). PDFs are stored securely and viewable only by your church. A song holds either text or a PDF, not both: switching type replaces one with the other on save, and the editor warns you first.
